Cairo
Places to stay
Using airbnb/booking is pretty reliable. Alternatively you can look at Brassbells and Lemon Spaces which are both super nice.
- Downtown Cairo: chaotic, buildings are old but many of them are nice and renovated inside.
- Zamalek: island on the Nile, much more walkable, very central, good vibes but expensive. Nice restaurants and cafes.
- Maadi: a bit far from downtown, oldish buildings but very cosy vibes. Lots of good restaurants and cafes. This is normally where I stay because it’s close to our office.
- New Cairo/Sheikh Zayed: both are fancy and completely new but quite far away from everything. Only recommend if you’re driving around. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes too.
